Yvette Lee

I joined Young Gen in the 1970s because I was bored stiff of ballet classes. I was painfully shy but as everyone has said through the years, I was made welcome immediately and I have many friends that I made back then who are still my mates to this day. Despite being shy I loved being up on stage being someone else, and it really helped me grow in confidence as I got older. I spent 19 years working for the BBC including presenting on-air at BBC Essex, I then moved to China to teach English before returning to Chelmsford and eventually becoming a Committee member of Young Gen where I enjoy seeing our enthusiastic young children blossom into young adults ready to take on the world.
